YANGON, Myanmar (AP) ? Aung San Suu Kyi's doctor expressed worry Friday that the Nobel Peace laureate's whirlwind tour of Europe could weaken her health, after she fell ill on the second day of her two-week trip.
The 66-year-old opposition leader known for her steely grace and longtime struggle for democracy in Myanmar has a weak stomach when it comes to travel, said Pyone Moe Ei, one of Suu Kyi's two personal physicians. Suu Kyi had similar bouts with weakness and vomiting during her rigorous nationwide campaign for a seat in Parliament earlier this year, which doctors attributed to exhaustion and motion sickness.
"I am very concerned for her health," Pyone told The Associated Press in Yangon. "Considering her age, the amount of travel she's doing, the time difference, lack of rest and her extremely tight schedule ? it is very worrisome."
Suu Kyi arrived late Wednesday night in Switzerland, on her first trip to Europe in 24 years. Her high-profile visit also includes stops in Norway, Ireland, England and France.
Thursday's hectic schedule included speeches, receptions and news conferences first in Geneva and then in the Swiss capital Bern, where Suu Kyi looked pale and told reporters she felt exhausted. At one point she pressed a finger to her lips and motioned to an aide who rushed to her side with a bag. She then bent over and threw up before being escorted out of the room.
Suu Kyi canceled an evening dinner in Bern but resumed her schedule Friday with a visit to the Swiss parliament. A highlight of her trip is expected Saturday, when she will be in Norway to formally accept her Nobel Peace Prize 21 years late.
Suu Kyi's doctor said she has no serious health problems but weighs a mere 48 kilograms (106 pounds), has low blood pressure and can get easily weakened by vomiting. Pyone said she had not spoken directly to Suu Kyi after her ill spell in Bern but had been in contact with people close to her. It was not immediately known what treatment, if any, Suu Kyi received.
Doctors in Myanmar had placed Suu Kyi on intravenous drips after motion sickness caused her to fall ill twice during her campaign in March.
The European trip is seen as a sign of gratitude to governments and organizations that supported Suu Kyi's peaceful struggle against Myanmar's former military rulers over more than two decades, 15 years of which she spent under house arrest.
Last month, Suu Kyi made her first trip out of Myanmar in 24 years to neighboring Thailand. Ahead of that trip, aides said she was preparing by packing her medicine for motion sickness.

ScienceDaily (June 10, 2012) ? Enabling bioengineers to design new molecular machines for nanotechnology applications is one of the possible outcomes of a study by University of Montreal researchers that was published in Nature Structural and Molecular Biology June 10. The scientists have developed a new approach to visualize how proteins assemble, which may also significantly aid our understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, which are caused by errors in assembly.
"In order to survive, all creatures, from bacteria to humans, monitor and transform their environments using small protein nanomachines made of thousands of atoms," explained the senior author of the study, Prof. Stephen Michnick of the university's department of biochemistry. "For example, in our sinuses, there are complex receptor proteins that are activated in the presence of different odor molecules. Some of those scents warn us of danger; others tell us that food is nearby." Proteins are made of long linear chains of amino acids, which have evolved over millions of years to self-assemble extremely rapidly -- often within thousandths of a split second -- into a working nanomachine. "One of the main challenges for biochemists is to understand how these linear chains assemble into their correct structure given an astronomically large number of other possible forms," Michnick said.
"To understand how a protein goes from a linear chain to a unique assembled structure, we need to capture snapshots of its shape at each stage of assembly said Dr. Alexis Vall?e-B?lisle, first author of the study. "The problem is that each step exists for a fleetingly short time and no available technique enables us to obtain precise structural information on these states within such a small time frame. We developed a strategy to monitor protein assembly by integrating fluorescent probes throughout the linear protein chain so that we could detect the structure of each stage of protein assembly, step by step to its final structure."
The protein assembly process is not the end of its journey, as a protein can change, through chemical modifications or with age, to take on different forms and functions. "Understanding how a protein goes from being one thing to becoming another is the first step towards understanding and designing protein nanomachines for biotechnologies such as medical and environmental diagnostic sensors, drug synthesis of delivery," Vall?e-B?lisle said.
This research was supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and Le fond de recherch? du Qu?bec, Nature et Technologie. The article, "Visualizing transient protein folding intermediates by tryptophan scanning mutagenesis," published in Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, was coauthored by Alexis Vall?e-B?lisle and Stephen W. Michnick of the D?partement de Biochimie de l'Universit? de Montr?al. The University of Montreal is known officially as Universit? de Montr?al.

UBS is reportedly sitting on losses that could be as high as $350 million stemming from its investment in the Facebook initial public offering, and is preparing legal action against Nasdaq as a result.

The furor over Nasdaq's handling of the Facebook IPO simply will not abate, firms that have lost big continue to come out of the woodwork.
Maria Bartiromo at CNBC broke this startling UBS thing yesterday, I had a call-in to her show at 4pm to discuss it live on the air.
UBS is sitting on losses that could be as high as $350 million stemming from its investment in the Facebook initial public offering, and is preparing legal action against Nasdaq as a result,? people familiar with the matter told CNBC.
That loss is some ten-times more than the $30 million number that is currently being speculated in the market by others.
The issue has to do with the failure to get confirmations and executions from the Facebook trade.
These people said UBS wanted 1 million shares, but when it did not receive confirmations, it repeated the order multiple times and was left with much more than it intended.
Shares of both UBS ($UBS) and Nasdaq ($NDAQ) are flirting with multi-year lows here as no one wants to own them anyway, even prior to this debacle.
My "all-time low" theory grows more compelling by the day.
