ORGANISERS of the Queensland Outdoor Adventure and Motoring Expo are expecting bumper crowds to attend over the course of the three-day event.

The expo, which is in its 15th year, starts today at the Toowoomba Showgrounds.

Australian Events director Bob Carroll said he was amazed at how quickly the expo had evolved over the past decade.

"It is a hugely popular event," Mr Carroll said.

"It initially started off as a motoring expo and grew rapidly from there.

"It is by far one of our largest evolving expos," he said.

Mr Carroll said there would be more than 140 exhibitors on show at the expo.

"There are more stock and more variety this year," he said.

"It always surprises me. Just when I thought they could not come up with anything else, they do.

"There will be everything you can imagine in relation to outdoor and camping on show at the expo."

Mr Carroll said the outdoor adventure and camping sector had become a big money spinner.

"It is big business these days," he said.

"At our expo last week, a $200,000 campervan was sold off the floor within an hour of the gates opening.

"People these days know what they want."

Mr Carroll believes the expo will inject a significant amount of money into the Toowoomba economy.

"I know people who are coming from New South Wales to be here this weekend," he said.

"Some people even incorporate expo dates into their travelling itinerary."
